Paper Ideas

There has been several aspects that have led me throughout my life to where I am today.
  1. I care about the state of people in general around me like my friends and family so I felt that a major in Political Science would help me be able to help people and the nation on a wider scale.
  2. My losing my house due to the poor state of the economy in 2008 and my need to help fix it has also lead me to my major choice.
  3. My older sister goes here so that choice was already made for me, when it came to choosing what university I wanted to attend.
  4. The government class I took in High School really perked my interest in the government and how policy is made.
  5. The current state of affairs.
  6. Listening to my family talk about political issues without actually knowing the facts.
    1. This happened a lot at parties and when I think back on what was actually it is just dumb.
  7. My stepfather was also a big part of my decision to study political science because when he would speak of anything political he would talk about issues he knew about and would not try to convince you into changing your stance. He would only talk about the facts and the way things have played out thus far.
  8. People not knowing about the political arena today and how to change things was also a major part.
  9. The department at ASU is very good that was a bonus when choosing my major.
  10. Finally it is something that I am interested in.

  1. So I think that you should definitely talk about loosing your house do to the poor economic struggle of things as it will show the fighter in to keep going even without one of the biggest things in a persons life their home. Loosing something that important to someone is hard for someone to just loose because a house is in your safe place. Another fact that you could talk about is the fact of the interest you have in government and the interest that your stepfather inspired in you. Whatever you choose to write about I'm sure will be good because it seems as though you know what you are interested in.

  2. I agree with Matt I feel that you should write about losing your home and how it influenced you to choose your career path. I think that this will have so many feelings and intensity behind it because it is a strong subject to write about so your narrative will have your personal emotions. i think of all your topics, this will be the one with the best story behind it.

  3. I also agree that the loss of your house would be your strongest supporting cause for your major choice. It is a very big event in your life and it had a significant impact on how you viewed the economy and motivated you to want to bring about change for everyone. If I had to choose another option, it would be the influence of your stepfather’s views if you compare it with the words of others around. The fact that he used only what he knew about in conversations and didn’t try to persuade you to his side, shows that you can have intelligent conversations about politics. It gave you the drive to want to be like him rather than many other people who talk about things with close minded attitudes and one-sided views just to put a word in.
