Outline

  • I would start off the video with an introduction of myself and the whole process of how 10,000 solutions works.
  •  I would then discuss my problem of how organizations lack volunteers.
  •  I would follow up evidence from organizations speaking about this to news reports.
  • Then I would state my possible solution to the problem and how it may benefit not only the students as well as the community. I would include statistics, facts, as well as testimonies from students who have been required to do community service.
  •  I have also had the opportunity to interview a professor who teaches high school and college students. I will read over the questions I asked him and the answer he gave me. (I will not be able to record my solution and interview him since his schedule is pretty busy).
  • I will then use a picture montage with a voiceover at the end to try and give off a persuasive feel as to why I feel that this solution is a good on.
  • I will close off with a thank you and to vote for my solution to be chosen.

10000 solution video transcript

Hello. My name is Clarissa Campbell and today I'm going to discuss the issue of public assistance/welfare fraud and propose a solution to this very common problem.  I have done extensive research into various points of view on the topic in the past week and have come up with a reform policy that I believe will dramatically increase the effectiveness of the current fraud prevention methods.  First of all, I propose a mandatory drug test for all who are applying or renewing benefits.  I realize that some states have put variations of this into effect in prior years with small amounts of results, but I believe this may be due to people learning to "beat" the system.  In order to resolve this, I propose that all personnel are searched before and after the test and also add an observer as is required for military testing. Additional random testing and a signed declaration may also be very helpful when funding is available.  Another issue that comes up with public assistance is people selling food stamps  to use the money elsewhere or buying purely high calorie "junk" food that is really not needed and is unfair to any children who may be in the house.  To fix this, I believe that people should be given actual food that will provide well balanced meals for all family members.  Another possibility is to create a program similar to the Women Infants Children (WIC) Program where only certain items are allowed to be purchased throughout the month.  My final part of the proposal is to require that all adult recipients either are employed full time or working with a local job center on interview skills and resumes.  This should be tracked so that a certain number of hours each week may be required until full time employment is achieved. I believe that the combination of all of these changes will have a tremendous and positive impact on the issue of welfare and public assistance fraud.

annotations

My first annotation is about the many effects that come with the immunization of illegal immigrants of our Country's Federal Laws so as that makes it okay for them to cross over into the United States legally and don't have to work for anything. This comes to speak about the vast amounts of resources that our poured into the amnesty effect over legal immigrants already over here.

The second annotation will come to speak about the fact of how even though illegal immigrants are working here they are sucking our economy and nation dry. It goes on to explain how that some argue that this could only benefit our country with an anti-argument of how could this help our economy when all of our money is not even being spent here in America but is being sent out of country to families on other countries.

Unknown author, “Cracking Down on Welfare Fraud:  Is it Hurting the Innocent?”  WPXI.com, Pittsburg local news, Tuesday 7 Feb. 2012.

This article talks about how some of the new laws in Pittsburg that are being put into effect to prevent welfare fraud are taking away and hurting those who actually need the help.  One example that they use is that when the asset test was first announced.  This prevents people that have a certain amount of money in their savings account from collecting welfare.  A retiree testified in the article, though, that it was punishing them for being responsible and saving money.  They then changed the law by increasing the cap for anyone above 65 to 9,000 and 5,500 for everyone else.  This article will help provide evidence on the effectiveness on certain ideas to help prevent welfare fraud.  This will definitely add to the overall effectiveness of my proposal for a solution.

This article talks about another perspective on welfare fraud.  It talks about how prosecuting welfare fraud is leading to the link between government help and crime.  Many people now, when they hear the word welfare, they automatically think of someone using the government money to their advantage when they do not really need the help.  They see someone sitting at home doing nothing enjoying the free money.  This gives a more negative/ opposing opinion to my argument which gives me a different perspective to work with.

This article focuses on the study of the attitudes of community responsibility of students who volunteer. While the volunteer was mandatory at first, towards the end the continued to do the volunteer work even after the requirement.

Annotations

The first annotation is not quite researched based but more testimonial. Earlier this year a woman regrew a fingertip through the help of stem cells. Though they did not call it stems cells, due to the fact that it is associated negatively to the human mind, it was regenerative medicine. With that being a step towards the betterment of this science I feel it is only time until we can regrow organs.

The second annotation deals with the facts of stem cells and how they work. To begin the stem cell is an unspecialized cell that has the capability to renew until it is no longer needed. It also has the ability to become almost any type of cell from organ to tissue based. They only need a living host to do their magical work.

10000 Solutions

For my Ten Thousand solutions I would like to introduce my own reasoning and solution into helping fix the economy. First thing is first those who earn a ridiculous salary to do their jobs in office should be cut down dramatically. Why should a Public figure be paid so much money to just throw away when we could be putting it towards something much more useful. How about we control our boarders more and give Americans their jobs back. I know this is gonna catch me on fire especially in college and I am sure lots of people are going to use their one defense for this which is , '' you are a racist against Hispanics". This is not true at all, yes I am against an illegal immigrant crossing into the Unites States unlawfully, which by the way is a federal offense, and taking jobs that could be used by Americans. I am not against immigration as long as it is legal and done the right way not the illegal way. Also those who immigrate illegally do not spend their earnings here in the United States but back in their own country of origin, so tell me how that is to boost our economy when there is no spending here but in other countries? Another way to let the economy grow is not have the government pour millions of dollars into dying businesses, to let the economy grow and expand some things need to die so that others can grow. Here is an example, when a tree dies the little sprouts underneath can now get sunlight and begin to grow, those little sprouts can then maybe grow into big trees themselves, so the death of that one tree gave way so that more trees could grow to be just as big if not bigger then the original.

Paper 3 proposal, Clarissa Campbell

I decided to write my paper on welfare fraud.  The government uses so much money every year to help the people who “need” it.  I do believe that there are some people who do get into situations where they do actually need help, but I also think that there are many people who get the help but do not really need it.  They take advantage of the system so that they do not have to work or so they can stay home and many spend the money on things that are not necessities and not what the money was meant for.  Many also are regular drug and alcohol users and use the money for that cause.  I have several ideas to combat this issue.  One idea is that if it is for a physical medical reason, to require annual physicals and ensure that they are still unfit for the workforce.  Another idea that could help to prevent the drug use is to require drug tests for everyone prior to them receiving benefits.  I know that some states are already doing this to an extent, and that it is not having the desired effect.  For example, Arizona is requiring tests to people who are believed to be doing the drugs, but only if there is reasonable belief which means that not everyone is tested. Other states are testing everyone, but not getting expected results, and I believe this is because the people being tested are falsifying tests.  Kits and instructions are sold in smoke shops all over the United States.  I have several ideas to fix this which will help to make the testing more effective.  The audience will be the general public, but more targeted toward those in charge of these systems in hopes that they will hear my ideas and consider putting them into place.

10,000 Solution

For my third paper, I decided to do something a little different. Instead of choosing a problem within my major, I decided to choose something to help the community. For my communications class, we were assigned to do a community service and present about if afterwards. I thought that it was pointless because I felt that I should not be forced to do something I do not want to do but since it was a grade, I had to. Our group decided on the Andre House which is a soup kitchen as well as a help office for the homeless. I live in West Phoenix so I see homeless people every day and never thought much of it. After participating in the Andre House, it opened my eyes to the lack of volunteers they receive. It also taught me to be very grateful after hearing what these individuals have gone through. So my proposal for the 10,000 solutions is that Arizona State University students should be required to complete 10 community service hours throughout an entire school year. Although it may not seem like a lot, if you think of the amount of students ASU has enrolled, the numbers add up. It helps students learn life lessons as well as help those who are less fortunate around us. The way it can be enforced is through account holds, like the ones they have for freshmen student advising. You can remove this hold after you show your counselor that you have completed the certain amount of hours. I know that many high schools now require community service hours as a part of the criteria for graduation which I think we should be a part of. My projected audience is to faculty, staff, and students of Arizona State University.

Paper 3 Topic

For the third paper I would really like to work on the waiting list for organ transplants via genetic engineering. This would then stem to cloning for the purpose of harvesting organs for the betterment of health. I find this area of science to be extremely fascinating and would love to see it expand in the future. My solution is simply cloning humans so that if one or another person needs a liver or heart there will not be long waiting list for potential donors. The audience for this project would seem to be anyone who would be or is looking into cloning for actual medical purposes not just for the fun of it. My grandmother who is on awaiting list for a liver transplant will most likely not get and will pass away in the near future. This got me to thinking if there were clones of people who were kept in some sort of cryosleep where they would feel no pain and not know that they were alive it would be fine for one of them to be used to harvest organs. Because in the current system we have if one is not rich or famous a lot of them will be not have the transplants need to save their lives. That is base for my reasoning to do the third paper on genetic engineering. I feel that this is not often viewed as potential to save many lives for the sole basis that some people are afraid of the outcome of cloning humans for organs but if given time I think that it could save several people from the heartbreak of losing a loved one from some like a faulty liver.

Have a good day or night (really whenever you are reading this),

Women in Business Podcast Outline

Clarissa Campbell:  Hello and welcome to the “Women in Business” podcast.  I’m Clarissa Campbell and my co host here is Jennifer Lopez.
Jennifer Lopez: Today we will be discussing an article from the fall 2012 issue of the scholarly journal, “Women in Business.”  The article, written by Leigh Elmore, is called “HOW far HAVE women COME?”
Clarissa Campbell: The piece focuses on the many injustices women STILL face in the workplace, despite the many obstacles we have overcome.
Jennifer Lopez:  To start, we are going to interview both a male and a female professional in the business world today.
Clarissa Campbell: We have shown both of our respondents the Journal article and asked them a set of questions in response. These questions have connections to the article as well as dilemmas we see in today’s society.  The first individual, Mr. Phillip Drake, works as an accountancy professor here at Arizona State University.
Jennifer Lopez: So Mr. Drake, now that you have read the article I will ask you a series of questions based on the journal article as well as your own personal opinion. (Mr. Drake has yet to respond with his answers to our questions so I will only list the questions for you our outline)

  1. Have you ever seen a type of gender discrimination throughout your time being at ASU as an accounting teacher either towards a student or another faculty member?
  2. What is your point of view in regards to women holding high positions in the corporate world?
  3. According to this article, “in America, women are paid an average of 80 cents for every dollar paid to men. The pay gap is even larger for women of color, with black women earning about 70 cents, and Latinas about 60 cents, of every dollar paid to all men," Were you aware of this fact prior to reading this article? Why do you feel that there is such a big price gap for the salaries of men and women, what is the reason behind it?
  4. Do you feel that the pay gap between women and men will ever close or be resolved anytime soon?
  5. What is your view on women having maternity leave and breastfeeding policies while working. Are you for it or against it?
  6. What do you think women need to accomplish to have equality within the business community, what steps need to be taken to be taken serious?
  7. According to this journal article, “Only 17 percent of its members are women. Between 1923 and 2011, only 28 women have chaired congressional committees, and only 45 women of color have ever served in Congress--just one in the Senate. Last year's congressional 'supercommittee' of 12 legislators charged with reducing the federal deficit has one white woman and not a single woman of color." Do you think women are less enthusiastic to participate in politics? If so, why do you think that is?
  8. In 2009, President Obama signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, what is your opinion towards this move in legislature and do you think it is a step in the right direction for women?
  9. The article talks about how women have “a lower glass ceiling” still today, even though women now outnumber in college.  Do you agree with this fact?
  10. As you know, women have come a very long way in the past century.  Do you believe that we have reached a time of true equality yet? Explain
Clarissa Campbell: While Jennifer interviewed the male for his perspective on this dilemma, I spoke to a woman and sought to see her point of view on the issue at hand. (we have yet to conduct the interview with the female due to current let downs but have provided the questions for our outline)
  1. As a woman in today’s workforce, have you personally experienced or observed others experiencing any inequalities or discriminations in your work environment?  If so, can you explain?
  2. What is your point of view in regards to women holding high positions in the corporate world?
  3. According to this article, women in general, “are paid an average of 80 cents for every dollar paid to men,” and “the pay gap is even larger for women of color with black women earning about 70 cents, and Latinas about 60 cents, of every dollar paid to all men.”  Were you aware of this fact?  Why do you feel that there is such a big price gap for the salaries of men and women, what is the reason behind it?
  4. Do you feel that the pay gap between women and men will ever close or be resolved anytime soon?
  5. What is your view on women having maternity leave and breastfeeding policies while working. Are you for it or against it?
  6. According to this journal article, “Only 17 percent of its members are women. Between 1923 and 2011, only 28 women have chaired congressional committees, and only 45 women of color have ever served in Congress--just one in the Senate. Do you think women are less enthusiastic to participate in politics? If so, why do you think that is?

  8. The article talks about how women have “a lower glass ceiling” still today, even though women now outnumber in college.  Do you agree with this fact?
  9. As you know, women have come a very long way in the past century.  Do you believe that we have reached a time of true equality yet? Explain
  10. Many women still spend much of their time caring for family and household chores, and if employed, they are more likely to be in occupations that are “traditionally female occupations.”  In your opinion, is this simply their choice or an influence of the “gender roles” that are still assigned by todays society?
Jennifer Lopez: As you can see our respondents were very enthusiastic about their opinions on this topic and had no problems expressing it. So now we leave you guys with this thought; what is your opinion on women in the business? Should they be allowed to have maternity leave when the time comes or should they be expected to be at work like the rest of the men if they want to be treated equal. Will the pay gap ever between males and females ever dwindle down to nothing? Thanks again for listening ladies and gentlemen this is Jennifer Lopez
Clarissa Campbell: And Clarissa Campbell signing off. Have a great day of thinking folks.

Podcast Matt and Austin

Austin: What's up guys this is our podcast for paper number two. We will be talking about the unequal justice system that we have set up in America.

Matt: That is right Austin so the journal that we read was written by Steven Seidenberg who is a trail lawyer so when it comes to the court system there is almost no one better to ask. In short the article talked about when it comes to the legal system those who have the most money also have a better chance of getting off their charges.

Austin: That is how I feel as well Matt. And we got an interview from one of your professors who is teaching this very topic.

Matt: Correct so we did not do a face to face interview but we did email him and he responded accordingly.

Austin: Alright so which one of us are going to play the interviewer and interviewee?

Matt: Why don't we flip a coin for it ?

Austin: Sounds like a plan.

(Flip coin)

Other then the American legal system, what other system would you want to use if the situation presented itself?
The education system.

Would you suggest that more financial aid be presented for the use of free legal services in the American legal system?
Of course. I think we discussed this issue a few weeks ago. Money is always an important thing which will be factored in preserving everyone's equal access to the legal system.

Compared to that of the American legal system, which other system do you feel has the same or greater quality of the American system?
I would say the education system, too. Although the politicians claim that everyone has an equal access to the education system, racial, gender, and other injustices have caused a disproportionate outcome especially for those oppressed majority. Personally, I think this situation is pretty similar to that of the legal system.

Journal

So I am not sure what do about this blog but I did find an interesting journal about law school and their goals. It was interesting because it said that law school try to teach law as a social science and that they are beginning to focus on the teachings of one guy. I don't know how this relates but it was good, the link is below.

Journal article notes

My partner and I chose to write about an article found in the Women in Business Journal (Kansas City, MO).  The article is called “HOW far HAVE women COME?” by Leigh Elmore.  It is about how, although women have come a very long way over the last century, there are still many inequalities.  I think the purpose is to inform women of what these inequalities are and also to persuade women to do something, such as vote in the upcoming election, in order to push for a change and make a difference.  The audience was mostly targeted toward women, but as for the informing purpose, it can be said that the target was the general working public.  The genre is a report.  I don’t think that it is arguing for anything or analyzing the information.  It is simply reporting statistics and facts for the reader to analyze and interpret.  The author’s stance seems to be opinionated stating that “the fact that we want to discuss that Mayer is pregnant shows that we have much more progress to make,” (Leigh Elmore, 2012).  My initial response was shock.  I had an idea that there was still much inequality, especially in the military, but I had no idea that there was not only inequality in treatment, but also documented statistics showing a substantial pay gap and very low percentage of women in top positions.  Some reasons I came up with that were for this article were all the cited statistics and quotes from women of authority.  Things that could be negative are that it is somewhat one-sided and therefore possibly biased.  The first paragraph consisted of a story about how Marissa Mayer became the new CEO of Yahoo, but all people want to talk about is the fact that she is pregnant and whether or not she will work through her maternity leave.  The rest of the article if almost fully made up of quotations from people of authority such as the U.S. Labor Secretary, Hilda L. Solis and the ABWA Executive Director, Rene Street and several other important sources.  There is not a whole lot of input from the author though.
The journal I have read was a journal that talks about the issues of the unequal and the unfair legal system that we have in the United States. In a recent report the U.S. has one of the greatest legal systems in the world. There is a catch to this great legal system which is the ability to afford the cost of the system and if you cannot have the afford then you are out of luck as a person. This is a terrible fact in this society because it shows that there is no justice for the little guy and all the benefits go to the big fat cats that can afford what ever they want to do. This shows that if a little guy has to go up against a big fat cat then the little man has to go up against a huge display of legal support and power that will likely end up in not winning the debate and loosing everything that he/she has that they needed to sell just to afford to stand up to them. This goes to en tale that lower groups cant have the same justice rights as a person in the higher social class. With this realization this shows a distinct culture shift with the distance between the lower class and a higher social class with the disappearance of a middle class.

Introduction paragraph.

“What the heck is that noise?” was the thought that ran through my mind at five o’clock in the morning. It was my first dawn of being in the jungle with my grandparents. My folks thought that it was a great idea to let me live with my father’s Aztec tribe for an entire summer, that it would give me some insight. I, on the other hand, preferred to be a carefree young child who enjoyed their summer playing outside in the city; but I was overruled. Yeah it sounds cool in the beginning, but after a day with no cartoons or video games, it really takes its toll on a youngster. So there I was, in the middle of the jungle in a warm summer day. I was awoken by plenty of voices and tropical birds, with rays of sun peeking through the branches; talk about a good morning!

Narrative Introduction

BUZZ! The alarm clock sounds and once again she rushes into the bathroom to vomit while clutching her stomach in agony.  “What is wrong with me?” she asks herself as she rinses her face and prepares herself for another miserable day of physical training (PT) in the Army.  She usually has no problem getting through any of the physical tasks given to her, but lately she has had no energy and can barely manage the warm up routine.  She somehow managed to pass the quarterly PT test yesterday, but today, she is very dizzy and by the time she gets to work, she is in tears from the excruciating pain in her stomach.  She is immediately rushed to the hospital only to find out that despite all the years of being told that she would be unable to have children of her own, she and her newly wed husband had managed to conceive a child.

Intro to paper

As the sun sets an aura washes over a young lad and he is suddenly relieved. The weight that has been lifted from his shoulders bear no comparison. Yet even though this weight is gone he can sense that there is a long and troublesome road ahead of him. No one around him offers any help he must become the rock for those who need him more than he needs them. With that he makes a vow, no one should have to go through what it is like to lose a home. For the next four years he wandered about high school wondering what he would do with his future until he got to his government class and saw how passionate the teacher was and he then decided that the teacher's life had not been an easy as well. Once I found this out I decided that one way to help myself and others was to get on a much larger scale, not just volunteering but changing the way this nation runs.

Introduction To Paper-Matthew Ross

In this story you are about to read, you are going to learn about one of the most single devastating events to ever strike me, strip me of one of the things I hold closest to my heart and I devoted all my time into for a dream and thought was would be taken away in a few minutes. There I was laying on the ground in incredibly horrific pain gripping my knee as I yelled to the heavens. As I laid there a thousand different things ran through my head, as never being seriously injured in football I had no idea what was happening to me. It all started as a normal defensive practice for football, the only difference was that this was the first day after hell week and the first day of full pads and full hitting drills, so as it were we were all jacked and pumped to start hitting and tackling. As the whistle blew for the end of our water break we all made our way to our specific designations on the field, linemen went to the end-zone on the  far side of the field, defensive backs and linebackers to the 50 yard line each for of the respective drills designed for our positions my friend and I lined up against one another being some of the oldest and best hitters on the team we loved going head to head on one another. As we got into our stances the anticipation was so awesome, the feel of hitting someone else was the best feeling on the planet, imagine being able to take out all your frustration on someone and get praised for it.

I forgot to include why I chose my first option and how it led me to my major of Accounting. Being from a culture where the men are exceptionally dominant, I felt that the business world would be a great way to be a powerful strong woman. You are respected and are seen as an equal by the businessmen. My upbringing was very harsh being that I was always placed in submissive roles like working with the women to make food for the men, made fun of for not knowing English, etc. I think that's what allured me into the business environment, the respect you receive as a female in a high ranked position being equally ranked by your fellow workers.

Narrative Ideas

There are many things that I could talk about to explain why I chose my career path.  The prompt asks to explain the major event leading to the major choice, so my major is Business Communications, but I also have a minor in Child and Family Development which, combined will allow me to learn the skills to run my own child care business.  So here are my ideas:

1.       Number one on my list is the birth of my beautiful baby boy, Vincent.   At the time I was working as a Military Police Officer in Army in Alaska.  I was married, but had been told for years that I was unable to have children, so my husband and I were not anticipating any children.  When we found out, we were both very nervous to say the least, so I began working with the New Parent Support Program provided on base.  This taught me many things about infants and children.

2.       Another option is to write about my personal experience as a parent dealing with my son’s daycare and observing the need for better, more affordable care in the civilian sector.

3.       My third choice is caring for my son.  I really enjoy playing with and teaching my son new things.  It is just amazing how quickly little one’s can pick up on things if you just sit down and spend that quality time.  He has completely turned my world around and now I couldn’t imagine a day without.

4.       Something that inspired me to want to go into business I guess would be dealing with different leadership throughout both my civilian and military career.  In the military, your supervisor changes pretty regularly, so I have seen many different leadership styles and had many different bosses but there are also a lot of opportunities where you have to take charge and get things done.  I feel that I have the basic skills of leadership now and know a lot of what to do and even more what not to do as a leader.

5.       Another thing is my parents.  My mother has moved job to job for as long as I remember and still has not found a job that she is happy with.  My dad, on the other hand, started off that way, but quickly decided to start his own business.  He is now much happier and very successful.

6.       My mother used to take me to work with her when she was working at the Children’s Center for Nuero-developmental Studies (CCNS), and that’s where I learned the importance of early and multi-disciplinary learning especially in children with special needs.  That’s why I decided on Child and Family Development for a minor.

7.       One day, I went to pick my son up from day care after work and found him covered in hives, sleeping in his crib.  The daycare workers had not noticed and I had to rush him to the hospital.  Luckily he was ok but was later diagnosed with a milk allergy.  I believe that the fact that they did not notice my son’s rash was a consequence of having too many children to care for at one time and too many other tasks they were trying to get done for the end of the day which would both be reduced in a home childcare setting.

8.       Another reason would reason for my choice is simply to learn more about children in order to better understand my own son and make more informed choices as a parent.

9.       Another reason for the child care option is to be able to stay home with my son and ensure that he is receiving quality care.

10.   And finally, I just love working with children.

Paper Ideas

There has been several aspects that have led me throughout my life to where I am today.
  1. I care about the state of people in general around me like my friends and family so I felt that a major in Political Science would help me be able to help people and the nation on a wider scale.
  2. My losing my house due to the poor state of the economy in 2008 and my need to help fix it has also lead me to my major choice.
  3. My older sister goes here so that choice was already made for me, when it came to choosing what university I wanted to attend.
  4. The government class I took in High School really perked my interest in the government and how policy is made.
  5. The current state of affairs.
  6. Listening to my family talk about political issues without actually knowing the facts.
    1. This happened a lot at parties and when I think back on what was actually it is just dumb.
  7. My stepfather was also a big part of my decision to study political science because when he would speak of anything political he would talk about issues he knew about and would not try to convince you into changing your stance. He would only talk about the facts and the way things have played out thus far.
  8. People not knowing about the political arena today and how to change things was also a major part.
  9. The department at ASU is very good that was a bonus when choosing my major.
  10. Finally it is something that I am interested in.

Brainstorming Ideas

So being that I don’t really enjoy writing, I had millions of ideas come in my head for my narrative!
  • Write of the time I lived with my native tribe in Mexico for an entire summer because it really opened my eyes as to the diversity in the world and the struggle people live through. The day of my Quincenera and the rush of emotions I experience that day. A Quincenera is a festivity in Latin countries which includes a ceremony in a church followed by a party and marks the transition from child to woman. This occurs when the girl is 15, which in Spanish is pronounced quince.
  • When my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. My mother is my life and I don’t know what I would do without her. She is such a phenomenal woman and when this occurred, it really put a damper on my sisters and me.
  •  My family. Not my immediate family, more like my aunts, uncles, cousin, etc. We are a very big family with many different schedules and priorities yet we manage to gather every Friday night and all of Sunday for dinner and family bonding at my nanas house. We go to church, play sports, converse, and hang out.
  • The day that I met Travis Barker at Disneyland! It may not be of much importance to many but I love Blink 182 so when I saw him I just had to have my picture taken with him.
  • The trouble I experienced the first year I came to the United States. I was very sad and lonely in my elementary school due to the fact that no one wanted to be my friend since I had trouble speaking English. I was constantly teased by the American children for my verbal skills.

paper ideas

So the first idea of mine is to talk about the death of my grandma which really affected me because she was a huge part of my childhood and she had a huge influence on my character that I carry with me today. My second idea was that of cooking in middle school after school for a homeless shelter as that taught me that there are other people in greater need of help and in worse situations then me. Third I was thinking about writing about my constant moving almost every year of my childhood so I never really got established anywhere with a descent set of strong circle of friends really until high school. Fourth was an idea of talking about always hiking into the desert which would show my love for the wilderness. Fifth could be paper on my time in middle school which was a transition period for me because that was when I was starting my living in one place for a good amount of time. For my sixth idea I would write would about my experiences in football in high school and how that affected who I was and my friend circle. A seventh idea would be about how my girlfriend changed who I was and how I became close to her and started going to her for support and the development between us. Eighth is an idea about being an only child with no peers in life that wasn't my mom or other close family member but someone I could just talk to. Ninth could be about my life as a child of a single parent and the hardships we went through that makes me who I am. Tenth is an idea about a certain time in football on my varsity years as a junior and senior when I torn my ACL junior year and strove every day for a year to get ready again for my senior season.
